Resources For Preparing Your 2011 Tax Returns
There are a number of ways available for you to prepare and file your 2011 income tax return(s). We'll start with the easiest (that you can prepare and file for free), and work our way up to cover solutions for more complex returns.
IRS Free File:
The IRS Free File program is available to taxpayers with 2011 Adjusted Gross Incomes ("AGI") of $57,000 or less, Free File is a partnership between the IRS and Free File Alliance, LLC to offer taxpayers their choice of software to prepare and eFile their 2011 1040 tax return. The official Free File Web site is http://freefile.irs.gov.
H&R Block offers free online tax preparation services, including audit support and representation from an enrolled agent; also, simple tax returns and more complex return preparation for homeowners and self-employed people. More information about FREE online tax prep from H&R Block

For taxpers whose AGI exceeds $57,000, the IRS offers tax Free File Fillable Forms that are filled out directly (not with the help of an interactive software program). The forms to prepare and e-file your 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ return are available on the IRS Web site.
Free File Fillable Forms allow taxpayers to fill out and file their tax forms electronically, just as they would on paper. This option does not include an “interview” process like the other Free File offerings, but it does allow taxpayers to enter their tax data, perform basic math calculations, sign electronically, print their returns for recordkeeping and e-file their returns. This self-service option may be right for those who are comfortable with the tax law, know what forms they want to use or don’t need assistance to complete their returns.
Tax Preparation Software
People who have higher incomes or more complicated returns (including estate tax returns), small business (corporate, S-corporation, partnership, and LLC), and who prefer to do-it-yourself can install tax preparation software on their computer. H&R Block offers a variety of software products. Save 15% on H&R Block At Home Software
